How to use these pages

Each heading page shows total US imports for March–July 2026, the top origin countries with their share and the duty each of them actually paid, the 10-digit tariff lines inside the heading, and links to the per-country duty breakdown. Start from the chapter you classify into, or jump straight to a heading you already know.

Duty figures are historical and describe what was collected, not what your shipment will pay. To price a specific movement, use the tariff simulator with your own 10-digit code and country of origin. Airlift USA coordinates classification and entry filing through our licensed broker network.

Methodology

Figures are US Census Bureau statistics for imports for consumption — the customs value of goods entered into US commerce — for March–July 2026, aggregated from 10-digit HTS line by country of origin up to the four-digit heading. Coverage is limited to 55 major origin countries, so totals here are lower than published US-wide totals for the same heading.

Only entered value, dutiable value and calculated duty are additive; every rate shown is recomputed from those three rather than averaged. Effective duty is calculated duty divided by dutiable value. Duty per $100 spreads calculated duty over all entered value, which is what makes it comparable between origins. Chapter 98 (special classification provisions) and chapter 99 (temporary measures) are excluded because they do not describe products.

Source: U.S. Census Bureau, USA Trade Online / International Trade API, imports for consumption, March–July 2026; effective duty = calculated duty ÷ dutiable value. Census data is a work of the US government and is in the public domain. Dataset generated 2026-09-03.

Frequently asked questions

What does this US import data show?

For each four-digit HTS heading it shows the customs value of US imports for consumption entered in March–July 2026, broken down by country of origin, together with the share of that value that was dutiable and the duty CBP actually calculated. Source: U.S. Census Bureau, USA Trade Online / International Trade API, imports for consumption, March–July 2026; effective duty = calculated duty ÷ dutiable value.

Which countries are included?

Fifty-five major origin countries. Totals on these pages are therefore lower than published US-wide totals for the same heading, and a country outside that set will not appear in an origin table even if it ships the product.

What is the difference between effective duty and duty per $100?

Effective duty is calculated duty divided by dutiable value — the rate applied to the part of the trade that carried duty. Duty per $100 spreads the same calculated duty over all entered value, including goods that came in free, which makes it comparable between origins with very different duty-free shares.

Can I use these numbers to quote a shipment?

No. They are historical averages across many importers, product specifications and entry dates. Use the Airlift USA tariff simulator with your own 10-digit HTS code and country of origin, and confirm the classification before filing. Airlift USA coordinates classification and entry through our licensed broker network.

Why are chapters 98 and 99 missing?

Chapter 98 covers special classification provisions such as US goods returned, and chapter 99 covers temporary rate measures. Neither describes a product, so including them would distort a ranking of headings by import value.
